Karen Joy Fowler, author of The Jane Austen Book Club, commenting on Plum Wine:
During the years of the Vietnam War, an American woman in Japan learns about the limits of love, the persistence of loss, and the futile but very human need to rewrite history. Plum Wine is in equal parts mystery and romance, an enchantment cast with wise and graceful passion.
