Sept. branch meeting: Wake County Board of Education

Posted in Events, Branch News at 9:08 pm by nes

AAUW Raleigh/Wake County Branch kickoff meeting.
Tuesday, September 18
6:30 - 8:30
Meredith College Jones Chapel Common Room (campus map; directions)

Join us for an informative meeting about the issues facing the Wake County public schools. We’ll

  1. Distribute the results of a survey of the Board of Education candidates.
The survey was conducted jointly with the League of Women Voters of Wake County.
  2. Hear from Stan Norwalk of WakeUP Wake County about the issues of growth in the county and their effect on education.
  3. Enjoy a potluck supper and the opportunity to catch up with friends — and make new ones — after a busy summer.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Guests don’t need to bring a covered dish — just RSVP to info@rwc.aauwnc.org so we’ll know to save you a spot. We’ll start eating as folks arrive, with the presentation starting about 7:00.

PLAN to VOTE on October 9!

See the Wake County Board of Elections site for details on who’s running in the board of education and municipal elections, the new instant runoff process for Cary, the locations of the one-stop voting sites and information on absentee ballots, and more.

Remember that new voters can register at the one-stop voting sites due to a law passed this summer. See Democracy NC for information and a flyer on the new law.
