Did you hear about AAUW Raleigh/Wake County at the Mom’s Turn to Learn event on February 10? If you’d like to support our mission to
advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research
and help the branch in its support of the theme, “Education as the Gateway to Women’s Economic Security,” please consider joining AAUW!
In 2009, the AAUW Raleigh/Wake County branch will celebrate 100 years of working for for public education, enhanced opportunities for women, and the benefits that higher education brings to individuals and society.
AAUW is a national membership organization open to women and men who wish to advance equity for themselves, their daughters and the other women in their lives. The AAUW Educational Foundation fellowship program includes grants to support women attending graduate school for career development. AAUW NC advocacy includes support for Title IX, lowered student loan rates, increased resources for community colleges and opposition to sex discrimination in higher education. AAUW’s project resources include a kit to fight harassment in the schools, and it has extended that work to programs to combat sexual harassment in higher education
